Game Description
Briscola Royale uses a 40-card Italian deck divided into four suits: Coins, Cups, Swords, and Clubs. Players are each dealt three cards, and a single card is flipped face-up to determine the Briscola—the trump suit that will overrule all others during the game. This card is then partially covered by the remaining deck, signaling the start of a tactical duel where no one is forced to follow suit, but where every card played could shift the balance of power. With a mix of luck and calculated risk, players must outplay their opponents across multiple tricks, all while remembering played cards and maximizing the value of each hand. From spontaneous 2-player battles to thrilling 4-player team matches, Briscola Royale adapts to any table. How to Play
- Set Up:
- Shuffle the 40-card deck.
- Deal 3 cards to each player.
- Flip the next card face-up—this is the Briscola (trump suit).
- Place the remaining deck face-down, often partially covering the Briscola card.
- Optional Move Before First Trick:
- If a player holds the deuce of the trump suit (2 of Briscola), they may exchange it for the Briscola card (before the first hand is played).
- Gameplay:
- The player to the dealer’s right plays first.
- Players take turns playing one card face up.
- Winning the Trick:
- If trump cards (Briscole) are played, the highest trump wins.
- If no trump is played, the highest card of the lead suit wins.
- Important: Players do NOT have to follow suit.
- Post-Trick:
- The winner of the hand collects the played cards into a personal (or team) pile.
- Each player draws a new card from the deck, starting with the trick winner, counter-clockwise.
- Game End:
- Continue until all cards are played (the last card drawn should be the Briscola itself).
- Add up the point values of collected cards to determine the winner.

Tips and Tricks
- Track High Cards: Keep mental notes of which high-value cards (Aces, Threes) have been played.
- Control the Trump: If you hold several Briscole, use them wisely to steal high-value tricks.
- Burn Low Cards: Use low-point cards to bait your opponent into wasting their trump.
- Use Memory and Timing: Since players aren’t required to follow suit, anticipate trick-winning plays.
- Team Coordination: In team games (4-player), communication through card reveals before the first round can build strong early strategy.
